Summer is Coming: The best things about Summer

Summer isn't my favorite season, that distinction belongs to Fall, but when compared to the other seasons, it's definitely in the top 2 for a number of reasons.  Here's a look at some of those reasons.

Longer Days:  One of the worst things about Winter is it gets dark early, and the sun doesn't come up until after 7am.  There are some days where you leave the house when it's dark and come home from work when it's dark, and if you don't have a window next to your desk, your vitamin D deficiency just went into crisis mode.  It's uplifting to come home from work in the Summer and know it's not getting dark until 9pm.  The longer days give you more time fit in a ton of events and activities before you crash for the night.  

Water Activities:  Whether it's the beach, the lake, the pool, an above ground pool (that last one was a joke, no one has ever had fun in an above ground pool), Summer makes water immensely better.  If you have never experienced the absolute joy of a slip and slide, go the nearest store that sells these creations of bliss and purchase one.  

Ice Cream:  HELL YES, ICE CREAM!  Specifically, ice cream delivered to you!  Look at how happy this guy is.  Do you think someone would be that happy when the Broccoli truck comes by? I'm not even going to go into detail about this because it's completely self-explanatory.

Backyard Grillin':  You can grill out any time of year, but most backyard grillin' is done during the summer time.  It's also one of the few times it's socially acceptable for a married man to be in charge of the food.  Regardless of what you throw on your grill, make sure you've got some ice cold adult snacks and good music playing in the background.

Smores:  I haven't had anything yet, so how can I have some more of nothing?  OK, now pay attention.  First you take the graham, you stick the chocolate on the graham.  Then, you roast the 'mallow.  When the 'mallow's flaming, you stick it on the chocolate.  Then cover with the other end.  Then, you scarf!  Kind of messy, but good!  Try some!

There's a host of other things that make Summer phenomenal, just make sure you enjoy them before the weather gets cold again.
