Game of Thrones Death Odds

If you're Game of Thrones, you look at the God of Death and clearly say today, tonight, tomorrow, the day after that, and any day I've missed in between.  For what is arguably the most popular show on television right now, death and gratuitous violence have been a vital part of GOT's story line since the first episode.  Gambling websites actually have odds on who will die in Season 6, which means you literally can bet on whether or not a fictional character will get killed off in HBO's medieval fantasy epic political drama.  It's both insanely awesome and also completely horrifying that people are willing to bet on whether or not a television character will get murdered, but I think history has proven that people are willing to pretty much gamble on anything to pass the time.  So, let's take a look at the odds that the remaining characters on Game of Thrones, won't make it through Season 6, which returns tonight.  If you haven't watched GOT up through Season 5, and actually care what happens, maybe stop reading.

JON SNOW      50/50

Let's start right out of the gate with the character most people care about, Jon Snow.  Is he dead?  Is he actually alive?  Will Melisandre bring him back?  If he does come back will it be as Jon Snow?  Will he come back as a White Walker?  Will he come back as Azor Ahai?  You can bet on all of this, which is just ridiculously fantastic.  Not only can you bet on if he dies or lives, but how and if he does live what/who he comes back as.  For purposes though of this post though, we're just discussing is he a technically alive in Season 6.  I don't care how, or what as, and no, flash backs don't count.

His odds of coming back are 50/50, which seems pretty fair.  It's obvious Jon Snow's going to be shown at some point in Season 6 as there's obviously rumors about Kit Harrington being all over the filming locations for GOTs, but the question is whether he is actually alive at the present time.  Those are your odds, moving on.

CERSEI LANNISTER              25/1

It's pretty fair to say Cersei had a rough Season 5, with the actual walk of shame through the streets of Kings Landing, and she's clearly going to go all out on those people who put her through that, with the zombie Mountain protecting her.  Cersei still sits as the mother of the King, and the with Queen being imprisoned and waiting trial for perjury, it's hard to see Cersei getting killed off anytime soon.

HIGH SPARROW                        10/1

With Cersei and the High Sparrow at clear odds, it's likely that they aren't both getting through this year unharmed.  One on side you have a cold and calculating psychopath who'll stop at nothing to maintain power, and the other party is a moral crusader with a loyal following of people who think truth and justice should trump all.  Give me the cold and calculating psychopath; this is Game of Thrones not the Care Bears.

SANSA STARK                              50/1

I go back and forth on whether I hate Sansa or want her to survive.  She obviously has political value based on her last name, which is the sole reason she's alive.  Her father was killed in front of her, she was forced to marry a dwarf, albeit an awesome dwarf, and her most recent wedding night with Ramsay Bolton wasn't exactly romantic, so she's got a litany of baggage which usually means she's going to stick around for a while.

THEON GREYJOY                       20/1

Speaking of baggage...Whew.....Theon Greyjoy/Reek.  No character has been through more punishment on this show than Theon Greyjoy.  His odds of being killed are higher than Sansa's, because he's more expendable politically.  He's been disowned by his family and doesn't really have any value as a political prisoner anymore.  I wouldn't be surprised to see him die trying to protect Sansa, or get revenge against the Boltons.

LITTLFINGER                           50/1

Machiavellian, extremely manipulative, highly intelligent, Littlefinger has been multiple steps ahead of everyone in Game of Thrones.  He's a huge political player with both the Boltons, who control the North, and the Lannisters, who sit on the Iron Throne.  He's far too interesting and valuable to die without some major plot development.

BRIENNE OF TARTH              8/1

She's been all over the map, defending Renly Baratheon, Lady Stark, Jamie Lannister, Joffrey Baratheon, and Arya Stark.  Stellar resume there.  She's the Mike D'antoni of knights.  If she offers to defend or protect you, just say no.  With no allegiance or real value anymore, she's completely expendable.  Knowing this show though, I wouldn't be surprised if she just wanders around the realm all season and nothing interesting happens.

RAMSAY BOLTON                   4/1

Ramsay Bolton fka Ramsay Snow led his father's army to a strong victory over Stannis Baratheon, but he also saw his bride, Sansa, flee Winterfell with Theon.  The Boltons crushed the opposition to their claim to the North, but they lost Sansa Stark, and that may be their downfall.  Ramsay will almost assuredly be going after her and Theon, and at least 1 of those 3 is probably going to have a bloody ending.

ROOSE BOLTON                  2/1

Since legitimating his son Ramsay, Roose as Warden of the North, just became a whole lot more likely to die.  He and Ramsay have a tenous relationship, and with Roose's current wife being pregnant with a true biological male heir, Ramsay sees a challenge to his claim as future Warden of the North.   It's highly unlikely both Roose and Ramsay make it through Season 6.

BALON GREYJOY                 2/1

Dead.  I'm surprised he wasn't killed off several seasons earlier.  Every time you see someone from the Iron Islands they look like they're about to die of starvation or some disease at any moment.

JORAH MORMONT              50/50

Since being eternally friend-zoned, Jorah has also contracted grayscale, and with Daeny gone and Tyrion in charge of Mereen, his value is greatly diminished.  Yes, he's a great warrior and fighter, but it's not hard to see him being killed trying to rescue Daeny or protect Tyrion from The Sons of Harpy.

MARGAERY TYRELL            3/1

Margaery has been trying to be Queen since the day she was born.  She's gone after Renly Baratheon, Joffrey Baratheon, and now Tommen Baratheon in a plan to manipulate her way to the top.  Her efforts to protect her brother though have landed her in a cell awaiting trial for perjury.  Even if she makes it out of the dungeons, and through the trial, she's still got to deal with Cersei, and when your enemies are a psychopath and a religious zealot, the odds don't look good for Margaery,

Vegas didn't release odds on some of the more popular characters, though it doesn't mean they won't die.  Here's two likely constants though for this year, Daeny and Tyrion aren't dying.  Cheers to Season 6 of Game of Thrones.
