NFL Week 11 Predictions

                                               Courtesy of printableteamschedules.com

The Thursday Night game saw a color rush match up between the Titans and Jaguars, and the Jaguars uniforms looked like the gutter outside Pat O'Brien's at 3AM.  The Titans uniforms on the other hand looked pretty cool.  That powder blue works, but unfortunately for the Titans their offense didn't and they lost to the Jags 19-13.

The Jaguars are 4-6 and if Indy and Houston both lose today, both of which are highly possible, they'll be a 3 way tie for 1st place in the AFC South at 4-6.  The other key games this week see Green Bay trying to stop their 3 game skid by heading to Minnesota to face a Vikings team that is 7-2 and in 1st place in the NFC North.  Tony Romo returns for Dallas in hopes they can run the table and make the playoffs.  The 49ers head up to Seattle, but this game just doesn't have the juice it did in recent years as the 49ers are 3-6, while Seattle is 4-5.  Lastly, Cincy heads to Arizona on Sunday Night, for a game between 2 future playoff teams, and it'll be interesting to see Carson Palmer face his former team, as many people think he quit on the Bengals.  Let's take a look at Week 11.

Oakland
at Detroit    Even

I've taken Oakland the last couple of weeks and gotten burned.  This game is a pick em, but the real show down everyone should be watching is Megatron vs. Charles Woodson.  I doubt Stafford goes all day without throwing a pick.  The Lions are riding high after getting a win at Green Bay for the first time since 1991.  The numbers between Carr and Stafford are very similar, as are the numbers between Meagtron and Amari Cooper.  This one should be a high scoring game, and I think Oakland is the better football team with the better head coach and the better QB.  I'm stubbornly going with the Raiders yet again.  Oakland 38 Detroit 35.

Indianapolis
at Atlanta    -4.5

The Falcons and Colts both had last week off, and Indy is without Andrew Luck, but the Colts have actually been better without him.  They are 2-0 with Matt Hasselbeck under center, and 2-5 with Luck as their QB this year.   Now granted, Hasselbeck played the Jags and Texans in his 2 games, but there's no question Luck has struggled this year.  The Falcons meanwhile started off red hot at 5-0 and have since gone 1-3.  Atlanta has a 2 game lead on a litany of 4-5 teams for that last Wild Card spot, so they desperately need this win, and I think with it being at home they'll get it.  Freeman and Julio Jones should both have big games against a bad Colts defense.  Atlanta 27 Indy 21.

NY Jets    -3
at Houston

The Texans shocked the world on Monday Night bouncing Cincy from the ranks of the unbeaten.  The Jets however, completely blew their chance to get a game up in the Wild Card by losing to Rex and the Bills on Thursday Night.  I think the Jets get back on track this week and beat a Texans team that is playing it's 2nd string Running Back, and TJ Yates.  Ryan Fitzpatrick gets some revenge on his old team today, even with that injured non-throwing hand, and the Jets win 23-13.

Tampa Bay
at Philadelphia  -6

Jameis pulled out a late comeback win against the Cowboys last week, and the Bucs will hope to do the same against Mark Sanchez and the Eagles in Philly today.  Sanchez practically gave a win to the Dolphins last week, as all he had to do was fall down 3 times and kick a FG to beat the Dolphins, instead he decided to throw an INT in the end zone to cost the Eagles the game.  If this game was in Tampa, I'd have the Eagles on upset alert and they may still be, but I think Philly gets it done today.  They need every win they can get, because they have a brutal stretch to end the season.  Philly 34 Tampa 23.

Denver    -1.5
at Chicago

The Broncos parted ways with John Fox, Jay Cutler, and Adam Gase, and now their starting QB is Brock Osweiler.  It's freezing in Chicago right now, actually it's below freezing, as the ground crews are shoveling snow and ice off the field.  Cutler has played pretty well this season, especially of late, and I'm sure he'd love to get some revenge on the Broncos.  The Bears aren't sure if Matt Forte will play today, but Jeremy Langford has done a great job for them in Forte's absence.  Fox downplayed the "revenge game" mantra surrounding this game all week, but this looks like a game where the Bears are primed to upset the Broncos.  The Bears are 3-0 against the AFC West so far this year, and I think they make it 4 in a close game.  Chicago 20 Denver 18.

St. Louis/Los Angeles
at Baltimore    -2.5

How bad are things for the Rams?  They're playing a 2-7 team and they're underdogs.  The Rams benched Nick Foles, less than 4 months after giving him a 2 year contract extension that will guarantee he gets paid nearly $14 million.  For the Ravens though, things are actually worse.  The NFL admitted this week that the Jaguars stole a win from Baltimore last week due to bad officiating at the end of the game, but at this point for Baltimore it was probably a gift, because they'll get a better draft pick.  The Ravens have found every way possible to lose close games this year, but I think they beat Case Keenum and the Rams this week to get to 3-7.  Ravens 23 Rams 16.

Dallas   -2
at Miami

Dallas gets Tony Romo back today, but it may be too little too late.  They'll almost have to run the table if they want to make the playoffs.  With Tony and Dez both back for the Cowboys, I think they'll get a win in Miami today, but it'll be a close game.  You'll see some rust from Romo out of the gate, but he'll settle in and lead the Cowboys to victory in South Beach.  Dallas 20 Miami 16.

Washington
at Carolina   -7

Did Cam Newton maybe dance a little too long last week against the Titans?  Yes.  Does it matter?  No.  Sports are supposed to be fun, and having a come apart for someone dancing after a touchdown reeks of manufactured bias masquerading as moral outrage.  By the way, I didn't hear anyone complaining when Avery Williamson, the same player who was upset at Newton for dancing, did his best Drake impression after a sack earlier in the same game.

The Panthers sit at 9-0, as a decent Redskins team comes to Charlotte looking for an upset.  There are a lot of Redskins fans in the Carolinas, so expect Washington to be well represented, just don't hang any banners in Bank of America Stadium.  Bill Callahan has done a great job with that Redskins offensive line, and Kirk Cousins looks like he might be the long term QB for Washington.  He'll have his hands full today though with that Panthers defense.  Philly Brown is out for today, which means Devin Funchess opposite Ted Ginn, Jr. will get his first NFL start.  He struggled early on, but has made some big plays in recent weeks.  Look for another hard fought game between both teams as the Panthers focus on their run game and Greg Olsen.  The Redskins will give Carolina a fight, but the Panthers make enough plays to stay perfect and beat the Redskins 31-24.

Kansas City   -3
at San Diego

The Chargers sit at 2-7 despite having a good offense, because their defense leaves a lot to be desired.  The Chiefs are 4-5 with the ultimate game manager at the helm.  This is a game where all signs point to the Chiefs winning.  They've won their last 3 games, and San Diego has been riddled with injuries, especially along the offensive line.  Additionally, the Chargers Malcolm Floyd has a torn labrum in his shoulder, but will somehow play through it today.  I'm going with the Chiefs to get the win today, but this game could be a fluky one where Philip Rivers just puts the team on his back.  Kansas City 24 San Diego 20.

                                                                           Courtesy of makeagif.com

Green Bay   -1
at Minnesota

P-A-N-I-C.  If Green Bay wants to host a playoff game, they better get it together this week against the Vikings, because right now the NFC North goes through Minnesota.  The Packers can't run the ball, and their defense is atrocious, which makes perfect sense that they're going up against a team that has Adrian Peterson and plays great defense.  That having been said, I think Green Bay knows that this is a must win game and Rodgers makes enough plays and they grit out a win on the road.  Packers 28 Vikings 27.

San Francisco
at Seattle   -13.5

One of these two men will be an NFL head coach in 2016.  This used to be the best rivalry in the NFL over the last 4 years, but those days are long gone.  Colin Kaepernick is set to have season ending surgery this week, and probably will never play another down for the 49ers.  The 49ers are likely going to be in the QB business come this off season and the draft, because I can't see them starting Blaine Gabbert next year.  As for today, Seattle has too much talent, and the 49ers are going to have a long day in the Pacific Northwest.  This game has blowout written all over it.  Seattle 27 San Francisco 9.

Cincinnati
at Arizona  -5

Carson Palmer faces his old team in the desert tonight, as the 8-1 Bengals come to town.  I think this is one where the Bengals are going to drop their 2nd game in a row, not because they've been exposed, but because they're having to go on the road and face a good football team in the Arizona Cardinals.  Andy Dalton will play better, but it won't be enough as the Cardinals move to 8-2.  Arizona 31 Cincy 24.

Buffalo
at New England   -7

The Patriots vs. The World Tour continues in Foxboro on Monday Night.  What's really been impressive is that New England has been plugging in players along the offensive line all season without missing a beat.  With Edelman out with a broken foot for the what could be the rest of the regular season, someone else is going to have to step up for New England.  Look for Brandon LaFell to get an increased number of targets this week.  For the Bills, they beat the Jets last week and currently hold that last playoff spot in the AFC.  I've already picked the Jets to beat the Texans, and I'm going with the Patriots because they're the Patriots and they're playing at home.  So that means that the Bills and Jets should flip positions this week for the last Wild Card spot.  Patriots 34 Bills 24.

                                                 Courtesy of ballparkbiz.files.wordpress.com

Is this the week Carolina and/or New England finally lose?  What a story it would be if the Super Bowl had 2 undefeated teams playing for perfection.  It's unlikely to happen, but the media is dreaming about this scenario.  Enjoy football Sunday.  Cheers.

SEC Week 12 Predictions

                                                      Courtesy of Redcuprebellion.com

There is nothing like a dream to create the future.  That dream, the dream of a National Championship resting in Baton Rouge this year is all but over, and now the LSU Fighting Tigers look to salvage their season in Oxford.   But a new dream has emerged; that of a new coach to lead the Bayou Bengals back to glory as Les Mileserables throne begins to warm.  As the Mad Hatter holds his court he asks, "Is it true that I am to be released?"  The LSU faithful can only wonder, "God knows how I've lasted living with this bastard in the house!"  While releasing him might not be the wisest of decisions, fear naught LSU, for even the darkest night will end and the sun will rise.

This week in the SEC sees only a couple decent games, with the Bayou Bengals heading north to home of William Faulkner, and the Bulldogs of Starkvegas heading to Walmart U, where Arkansas suddenly looks like a tough out for anyone.  The season is almost coming to an end with only 2 weeks left of regular season games, so let's take a look at Week 12.

FAU
at Florida   -30.5

The FAU Owls are 2-8, while the Gators sit at 9-1.  The outcome has already been decided, but what people are really interested in is whether or not Florida will cover, or will they sleepwalk through the game looking to FSU next week.  I think McElwain has got the Gators focused to get as many wins as possible as they hope to knock off Alabama in the SEC Championship to slide into the College Football Playoff.  They'll take care of business against the Fighting Archimedes and cover.  Florida 45 FAU 10.

The Citadel
at South Carolina

There's not really a line for this game.  So, let's just keep this one brief.  South Carolina wins.  It's a game no one outside the Palmetto State really cares about.  South Carolina goes to 4-8 before they get trounced by Clemson next week.   South Carolina 34 Citadel 17.

LSU
at Ole Miss   -6.5

The CBS game of the week sees the Fighting Tigers head to Oxford to take on the Rebels in the Magnolia Bowl.  I've been to this game the last 2 years, the 2013 game being one of utter jubilation followed by confusion.

                                                           Courtesy of SBNation.com

While, the 2014 game was one of awkward silence as I walked from Tiger Stadium to my car and drove back to New Orleans as fast as possible....thanks Bo Wallace.

But, this year I'll be watching from my home with my wife, an LSU fan.  That should be interesting.  Both the Rebels and Tigers are coming off losses to an Arkansas team they were favored against, and have seen their seasons crushed like one of Rust Cohle's beer cans.

If LSU is going to win this game, it's going to win it on the arms and legs of Brandon Harris.  They've become one dimensional and when they've been unable to run the ball as they have the last 2 weeks, they're incapable of scoring. Ole Miss will do the same thing Alabama and Arkansas did and stack the box against Forunette, and while he'll have a better game than he did against Alabama and Arkansas, I'm not sure that he runs for 200 yards against the Ole Miss front line.  But based on the luck Ole Miss has had this year, I'm going with the Tigers to get a last second win in Oxford.

                                                                 Courtesy of giphy.com

I think the game comes down to the last drive the way it has the last couple of years.  Les Miles losing 3 games in a row doesn't sound like a strong possibility.  I hope I'm wrong and Ole Miss wins in a blowout, but after that crazy loss to Arkansas I think this team feels a lot like they did after the loss to Auburn last year, which isn't good.  Even with 2 weeks to prepare, they'd need to win out and Bama to lose the Iron Bowl to go to Atlanta and unless Cam Newton's under center for Auburn, that ain't happening.  LSU 34 Ole Miss 31.

Charleston Southern
at Alabama    -38.5

Nick Saban was not happy when reporters asked him how much playing time some of his younger players were going to get in this game.  The Tide should win this game and cover 52-7.  But, the big story this week revolved around rumors that if Charlies Strong heads to Miami, would Texas make another run at Saban, and even if they don't, does Saban look to head to Indy to join Andrew Luck and the Colts with full autonomy in a Belichick like role.  The Tide faithful sure are hoping they're just rumors, because they're starting to get nervous that their beloved coach may leave Tuscaloosa.

Idaho
at Auburn   -34

The Vandals head to The Plains this weekend to take on a resurgent Auburn team that will get bowl eligible this week.   It's pretty evident the Tigers will get to 6-5 this week before the Iron Bowl, but I'm not sure they cover against Paul Petrino's Vandals.  The Vandals have been giving up a ton of points lately, but I think they'll be able to score enough to cover the spread.  Auburn pulls away in the 2nd half, and wins 42-17.

Mississippi State
at Arkansas   -5

Arkansas has been baffling this year.  They've lost games to Toledo and Texas Tech, and then they've beaten Ole Miss and LSU.  Mississippi State on the other hand has been pretty consistent; they've beaten the teams they're supposed to and lost to teams most analysts expected.  Fayetteville is a tough place to go to and get a win, and right now Brandon Allen might be having the best QB play of anyone in the conference.  State will put up a much better fight than they did last week, but I think Arkansas still gets a win at home and covers, 35-28.

                                                                 Courtesy of sicemdawgs.com

Georgia Southern
at Georgia   -13

Georgia Southern is a good football team.  While the Bulldogs likely aren't in too much danger of losing this game, the 13 point line shows that Vegas respects the Eagles.  Georgia Southern runs the triple option, which means the Bulldogs will see the this offense for 2 straight weeks, as they face Georgia Tech next week, and that offense is tough to defend.  This game is close for a while, but Georgia scores a late touchdown to barely cover the spread.  Georgia 35 Georgia Southern 21.

                                                           Courtesy of fansided.com

Tennessee     -6
at Missouri

Mizzou won last week based largely off emotion.  They won't be as lucky this week when the Vols come to town.  While Mizzou could get bowl eligible on Saturday night, they'll likely have to wait another week.  Tennessee didn't exactly dominate North Texas 2 weeks ago, or South Carolina the week before, but they still got wins, and they've had 2 weeks to prepare for Missouri.  Josh Dobbs will have his work cutout for him, but I think the Vols are just the better team.  They get a win in a hostile environment on a cold November night, and Mizzou will head to Arkansas next week needing a win to get to a bowl.  Vols 28 Tigers 20.

                                                     Courtesy of hostmama.com

UNC Charlotte
at Kentucky    -24.5

Kentucky will get 1 game closer to bowl eligibility this week against Charlotte.  The 49ers have only 2 wins this season, and have lost 8 in row, while Kentucky has dropped their last 5 games. Mark Stoops's Wildcats will win, but I'm not a believer in them covering a spread of 24.5 points against anyone, even a bad UNC Charlotte team.  A big factor could be the weather, with a 70% chance of rain/snow and temperatures that could dip down around freezing, so I think that could keep the score lower than it normally might be.   Wildcats 27 49ers 13.

                                                              Courtesy of dallasnews.com

Texas A&M    -6
at Vanderbilt

Derek Mason has done a better job than most people expected at Vandy this year.  I thought they'd struggle to get 2 wins, but the Commodores are sitting at 4-6 with an outside chance to make a bowl.  I don't think that'll happen, but I also don't think Texas A&M blows them out in Nashville.  Texas A&M gave all 3 of their QBs starting reps this week, which proves they don't have a QB.  If you're opening up the QB competition in Week 12, when all 3 are healthy, you've got some serious problems.  Despite their issues under center, I think the Aggies are still the more talented team and will get a win in Nashville as they edge out Vandy, but just barely.  Aggies 24 Commodores 21.

NFL Week 10 Predictions

                                              Courtesy of printableteamschedules.com

With Saturday being full of upsets in college football, Sunday hopes to follow suit with some exciting match ups between New England and the Giants, Minnesota and Oakland, and Arizona heading to Seattle.  The news heading into this weekend though is about the uniforms that the Jets and Bills wore on Thursday night.  Luckily, I'm not colorblind, but if you are here's what the game looked like.

It's nearly impossible to tell which team is which, unless you can make out the logos on the helmets.  The executive who came up with that marketing theory has not had a good couple of days.  With the 2nd half of the season set to kick off shortly, let's see how these games could play out.

                                                                 Courtesy of b930radio.com

Detroit
at Green Bay  -10.5

The Detroit Lions haven't beaten the Packers in Lambeau since 1991, and with the way the Lions have played this season, that streak is going to continue.  The Packers may have lost back to back games, which under Aaron Rodgers is rare, but they're not losing 3 in a row.  Green Bay lights it up today and wins easily in Lambeau.  Green Bay 34 Detroit 17.

                                                                Courtesy of wavy.com

Dallas  -1
at Tampa Bay

Dallas has now dropped 6 in a row, and their playoffs hopes are likely done.  They'd pretty much have to run the table to win the East, and likely need some help.  Tampa is 3-5, but they've looked good in their last 2 games, and if Mike Evans could catch balls that hit him in the chest, they might be .500 or better.  I'm going with the Bucs to get a win against the Cowboys at home today, as Dallas is getting media attention for all the wrong reasons.  Bucs 25 Cowboys 24.

                                                                      Courtesy of freep.com

Carolina  -4.5
at Tennessee

The Panthers head to Nashville today to try and continue their 8-0 streak.  They beat the Packers last week in a classic finish to solidify themselves as the best team in the NFC.  Tennessee fired their coach last week, and then went down to New Orleans and beat the Saints in an overtime thriller.  Mariota looked fantastic, but Carolina's defense isn't run by Rob Ryan.  The Panthers have heard all week how this is a trap game, and they'll continue their streak today with a win over the Titans.  Panthers 27 Titans 17.

                                                       Courtesy of nola.com

Chicago
at St. Louis  -6.5

The Rams are still fighting for their playoff hopes, sitting at 4-4.  They added Wes Welker to the roster this week, and he's expected to suit up and play for the Rams against the Bears.  On the other side, the Bears went to San Diego on Monday night and got a win to move to 3-5.  St. Louis defensive coordinator Greg Williams is in the news again after the Rams knocked out Teddy Bridgewater.  If Matt Forte plays the Bears will have a better chance, but I like the Rams to get to 5-4 with a win at home today.  Rams 22 Bears 17.

                                                                    Courtesy of washingtonpost.com

New Orleans
at Washington   -1

The Saints loss against the Titans in overtime might have been the killer blow to their playoff hopes, as they dropped to 4-5.  Washington went to New England and suffered the same fate as most teams who go to Foxboro.  This game should be a high scoring affair with both defenses having an inability to stop the other team from scoring.   If you've got fantasy players for either of these teams, this would probably be a good day to put them in your line up.  I think the Saints get back to .500 today and win a close one 34-30.

Miami
at Philadelphia  -6

The Eagles kept pace with the Giants edging the Cowboys in Dallas, but if you ask most Eagles fans you wouldn't know it.  Philly hosts the Dolphins this week, in a game that has significant implications for the Eagles.  I don't believe in Sam Bradford, but I do think the Eagles have better talent and a better coach than the Dolphins, and playing at home I think they'll get the win.  Eagles 27 Miami 20.

                                                           Courtesy of fansided.com

Cleveland
at Pittsburgh  -6

Johnny Football heads to Pittsburgh this week and will face off against Landy Jones.  The Steelers are 5-4, and with a win they'll jump the Jets for the final wild card spot.  Manziel hasn't been awful this year, but he hasn't played well enough to solidify himself at the No. 1 starter in Cleveland either.   With Cleveland having the worst rushing defenses in the league, I'd look to Deangelo Williams to have another big day, and the Steelers make enough plays to get them to 6-4.  Pittsburgh 24 Cleveland 20.

Jacksonville
at Baltimore    -5.5

The Ravens season has completely collapsed, with Terrell Suggs and Steve Smith, Sr. being hurt, and they have not been able to find a consistent running game.  If this game was in Jacksonville, I'd go with the Jags, but being that it's in Baltimore, I'm going to go with the Ravens.  This should be a low scoring game, and I like Jacksonville's skill position players better than the Ravens, but with Baltimore having 2 weeks to prepare, I'm going with the better head coach and better QB.  Ravens 20 Jags 16.

                                                                     Courtesy of oak.247sports.com

Minnesota
at Oakland   -2.5

Teddy Bridgewater has been cleared to play today, which is going to make for an exciting show down between two teams trying to make the playoffs.  Maybe it's because the Raiders haven't been very good for over a decade, but I think this is the year they can contend for that last playoff spot.  Derek Carr has played extremely well, and Amari Cooper is proving that he was worth the No. 4 overall pick.  Minnesota is likely going to make the playoffs, whether that's as a wild card or a divisional winner remains to be seen, but as for today, I think the Raiders get to 5-4 with a victory at home.  Oakland 27 Minnesota 24.

                                                                Courtesy of usmagazine.com

New England    -7
at NY Giants

Eli and the Giants have had Tom Brady's number when it comes to big time games.  While this game is important, I don't consider it to be a big time game.  The Giants have been lacking a pass rush all season, and that was a big reason why they were able to beat Brady in the 2 Super Bowls.  This should be a fun game to watch, but I still think New England gets it done and stays perfect.  Patriots 28 Giants 21.

Denver fell from the ranks of the unbeaten last week with a loss to Luck and the Colts, but they are still in the driver's seat to host a playoff game.  They'll bounce back this week against the Chiefs, but this game is closer than it should be with Talib being suspended for his idiotic unsportsmanlike conduct incident.  Denver wins on the arm of Peyton Manning 23-20.

Arizona
at Seattle   -3

Seattle has been up and down all year, and Arizona has a huge chance tonight to take a 3 game lead on the Seahawks for the NFC West.  The Seahawks and Cardinals have both had 2 weeks to prepare for each other, so there should be no excuse for either of these teams to be surprised.  Arizona is the better team, but it's hard to go to Seattle and get a win, and I think the Cards and Hawks split the series between each other.  Seattle 24 Arizona 21.

Houston
at Cincinnati  -11

The Monday Night game sees a lackluster Texans team head to Cincy to face the undefeated Bengals.  If Houston wins this game, it's because Brian Hoyer has the game of his life, and Andy Dalton and the Bengals fall apart.  It's highly unlikely.  Cincy has the better QB, better running game, better receiving corps, and better defense.  Houston may keep it close for the 1st half, but I think Cincy pulls away and wins this one by double digits.   Cincy 31 Houston 17.

We're over halfway through football Sunday, and with the playoff picture starting to take shape, every game going forward matters to those teams in contention.  Enjoy it while it lasts.  Cheers!
