Welp, we got some "surprising" news this week in the SEC. The HBC is hanging it up after it's clear South Carolina isn't going to be a contender for the SEC East. Get used to seeing Spurrier in a golf polo and a beer in his hand as he wanders the links rather than holding a clipboard on the sidelines of Williams Bryce. The guy is a legend, he won at Duke, Florida, and South Carolina, all programs which historically haven't won big until Spurrier came to town. The best thing college football can do is to notify Lee Corso it's time to retire from College Gameday, and replace him with Steve Spurrier.

In the SEC on Thursday night, Kentucky showed they are still a basketball school by taking a game-ending sack on 4th down to end a potential comeback against Auburn. Texas A&M hosts Bama, while Florida goes to Death Valley, but without star QB Will Grier, who somehow put on 40 lbs of muscle at 19 years old with an over the counter supplement.

College Gameday is in Ann Arbor this morning for what is probably the best non-SEC game with Michigan and the fighting Khaki Warriors hosting Sparty. If you don't think Jim Harbaugh is a great coach, go ask anyone at Michigan or San Francisco. But, this is post is about the SEC so let's see how the Southeastern Conference will fair this week.
Ole Miss -10.5
at Memphis
The Rebels take their powder blue helmets an hour north to the Liberty Bowl to face the Memphis Tigers, who are 5-0 and have not lost a game in a year. Laremy Tunsil will sit on the sidelines for 1 more week, after cutting a deal with the NCAA, but I don't think that matters today. Memphis's passing defense is 108th in the country. Ole Miss is 7th in the country in passing yards. Give me the Rebels to win and cover. Ole Miss 42 Memphis 30.

LA Tech
at Mississippi State -13.5
The battle of the bulldogs takes place in Starkvegas on Saturday. Jeff Driskel leads LA Tech against Mississippi State in a game that LA Tech fans think they can win. The last few times these teams have played, it's been decided by roughly a touchdown or less. So, I'm a little weary of that 13.5 point line. I think Mississippi State gets the win, but it's a close game all day, and they'll need a late stop to secure the victory. Give me Clanga by a touchdown. Mississippi State 34 LA Tech 27.

Alabama -3.5
At Texas A&M
Alright, Alright, Alright this is where we find out who is for real. If Bama loses, their season is officially done. While Texas A&M has started out 5-0, they haven't played anyone nearly as good as Alabama. If A&M is going to win, it'll have to be throwing the football all day. Kyle Allen will be tested by that front 7 of Alabama's defense, and no one knows what they'll get from Jake Coker. Bama struggled for 3 quarters against Arkansas, but opened it up late for a double digit victory. Last year Alabama won 59-0 in Tuscaloosa. Today's game won't be as lopsided as that, but I think Bama is still the better team and gets it done on the road. Alabama 38 Texas A&M 31.

Vanderbilt
at South Carolina -3
The Shawn Elliott era begins today. I'm not sure what to think after the loss of Spurrier for the Gamecocks. This game could go either way. South Carolina could come out flat, or energized at home. I'd let this line go, but being as how I have to make a pick, I'll go with South Carolina to win at home 21-17. They have more talent and playing at home should give them the edge to win against Vandy.

Florida
at LSU -7.5
LSU playing in Death Valley at night? Give me the Tigers. Florida's defense is better at defending the pass than the run, and LSU does not throw the ball unless it absolutely has to. Look for a lot of Fournette tonight. I think Florida's program got dealt a death blow when it lost Will Grier. They had a real chance to make the playoff, but with Treon Harris under center, I think Atlanta is their ceiling, and if they can't beat Georgia, I'm not even sure that's possible. LSU 20 Florida 13.

Missouri
at Georgia - 14.5
You have got to feel for Georgia and their horrible luck with star Running Backs. We wish Nick Chubb a speedy recovery, but it's going to be a long road back because that injury was gruesome. Georgia has had 2 extremely disappointing weeks losing to Bama and then to Tennessee. Meanwhile, Mizzou has looked even worse all season. Both these teams are 4-2, but it's an extremely underwhelming 4-2. I'll take Georgia to take out their frustrations on Mizzou and get a big win. Georgia 35 Mizzou 14.
